Macam-Macam Diabetes Mellitus

Jika sebelumya kita bahas mengenai pengertian dari diabetes mellitus (DM), maka kali ini kita akan belajar mengenai macam-macam penyakit diabetes. Sejauh ini, diketahui ada empat jenis DM, yaitu DM Tipe 1, DM Tipe 2, DM Tipe Spesifik, dan DM Kehamilan. Untuk lebih detilnya, simak penjelasan di bawah ini.

• DM Tipe 1
  DM jenis ini disebabkan oleh rusaknya sel beta pankreas sebagai penghasil insulin sehingga penderita sangat kekurangan insulin. Akibatnya, yang bersangkutan harus disuntik insulin secara teratur. Tipe ini  diderita 1 dari 10 penderita DM yang kebanyakan terjadi sebelum usia 30 tahun. Para ilmuwan percaya bahwa faktor lingkungan (berupa infeksi virus atau faktor gizi pada masa kanak-kanan atau dewasa awal) menyebabkan kerusakan sistem kekebalan pada sel beta pankreas. DM tipe 1 ini memiliki kecenderungan untuk menular secara genetik.
• DM Tipe 2
  DM jenis ini disebabkan oleh gangguan sekresi insulin dan resitensi insulin sehingga tubuh penderita tidak merespon secara normal insulin yang dihasilkan tubuh dan membentuk kekebalan tersendiri sehingga terjadi kekurangan insulin relative. Tipe ini biasanya terjadi pada usia di atas 30 tahun dan sekitar 80% penderita mengalami obesitas.
• DM Tipe Spesifik
  DM jenis ini disebabkan oleh faktor genetik (kerusakan genetik sel beta pankreas) juga akibat konsumsi obat-obatan maupun bahan-bahan kimia.
• DM Kehamilan
  DM jenis ini terjadi pada sekitar 2-5% dari semua kehamilan, namun sifatnya hanya sementara dan akan sembuh setelah melahirkan. Namun demikian, ia berpotensi merusak kesehatan ibu hamil maupun janinnya, meningkatkan resiko kelahiran serta cacat pada janin dan penyakit jantung bawaan pada bayi. Selain itu, sekitar 40-50% dari penderita tipe ini menjadi penderita DM tipe 2 di kemudian hari.

Type 1 DM

DM Pregnancy
